A Window to the House, a Tarpaper to the Roof

New pictures

It rained BUCKETS before they put the windows in and closed up the roof, so there is some water inside. Especially in the basement without the sump pump going and water coming in from the top, but other than that it looks great. Note the day was gray and gloomy, and the pictures show it, but we're very pleased with the progress of the home. I discussed the tar paper going on the roof so soon after rain with the foreman, and he assured me it was fine.

We met the electrician today. He was putting in boxes and getting ready to put in wires. Exciting!

It's not in the photos, but they have garage doors up too.

Bath anyone?

3d Walkthrough

Greetings!

We're so excited. Be sure to vote. Last round begins in 10 days. :-)

Here is a model of the first level done in Google Sketchup.

Be sure to try the Orbit tool. Also, if you have one, the mouse wheel zooms in and out. Also, I just noticed that the hallway to the left of the stairs should be bigger than I drew. Pretend it is.

Risen to greater heights!

With several precincts left to report, it's a dead even tie between JFW Manor and Party Central. Which candidate will win? ONLY YOU can decide in Decision 2008.

Current Pictures

Note the flaws in some of the pictures. The foreman and I have discussed them and they will be rectified.

Also note there are two pictures looking down on the neighbor's foundation.

The electrician and the plumber are both coming Tuesday. Progress. :-)

Floor Poured and Backfilled

The floor is poured, the plumbing roughed in, and things are on their way. Unfortunately, they filled in the porch with dirt, but oh well.

Enjoy the pics. And yes, our camera lens did get Calvinified again. Worry not, we just fixed it.

Walls, Tar, French Drain, Sump Pump

They took the forms off the walls, put in a gravel base, put up the main beams and the supports, put tar and fiberglass on the outside, and put down tar paper on the outside, perpendicular to the foundation.

They say they will have the joists and some of the walls up by Monday night. :-)

There has also been a suggestion to name the home Party Central. I think this is a good idea, but we need votes. To vote for Party Central, add your comments. See who gets voted off the blog-island next!

The bathroom layout in the basement is:

Finally, we're entering the second round of the name game, so please vote again! Only one more round to go, and there will only be three options for the final round. Get those votes in!

Look you can move the earth it just takes a "hole" lot of money!

Yes, I know it looks like a foggy picture, but the lens has just been Calvined. I found this out after taking the pics. So tomorrow expect some better pictures. Hopefully they will have poured the footer too.

To you this is just a hole- to me it is a home!
Yeah! It is happening. It is my house!

There's a hole in my lot!

And look there is the person who lives across the street. Our only surrounding neighbor so far. I can't wait to meet them.

Floorplan Layout

This is my best effort from memory. It's really funny how non-straight my lines look on the computer compared to what I thought they looked like on paper. :-)

Oh well. The drawings are the best scale I could get them, but they may not be as accurate as I hope. So it's just a general idea.

Main Level

Upstairs

Basement

Anybody have an idea where to put the rough-in for basement plumbing? I'm accepting ideas. :-)

Questions?
